Our Story

Our practice was established by Ottie Thomas-Smith in 1981 in Boston, Massachusetts. A sculptor and artist, she received her education at Rhode Island School of Design, and her training at the Veterans Administration in New York, NY. She brought on Kaylee Dougherty in 2013, a sculptor and artist educated at Boston University College of Fine Arts, to pass on her extensive training and expertise in our respective fields of Anaplastology and Ocularistry.

At Boston Ocular, we custom design, fit, sculpt, pigment, fabricate, and maintain each prosthesis by hand and work with each person to come up with the best designed product for them.
